Terms
These terms are between you and Jared Smythe, the sole proprietor who runs Their Stories Live On ("we"). By using the service you agree to them. Our privacy page explains how we handle your information.
The beta
This is an early, invitation-only version. Things will change and may break. Beta memberships are free and can end, with notice. Please tell us what isn't working: [email protected].
Who can use it
- You must be 13 or older to have an account.
- A child under 13 may take part only as a read-and-listen viewer, invited under a parent's or guardian's plan with their consent. The parent is responsible for the child's use.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
Your stories are yours
You keep ownership of what you add: your stories, recordings, photos and notes. You let us store, copy, process and show them only to run the service: to show them to the people your settings allow, to transcribe and suggest details for them, and to keep them safe and backed up. You let the members of your family's archive keep and pass on what you shared there, including after you leave, as described on the privacy page.
Being fair to others
- Share only what you have the right to share. Remember that family stories are about real people, some of them living.
- Don't use the service to harass, threaten, deceive or expose anyone, or for anything illegal.
- Don't try to get at archives you weren't invited to, or interfere with the service.
- Members can report a problem to their archive's admins, who can act on it. We may remove content or accounts that break these terms.
Plans and seats
- A plan gives seats to its payer and to the people they share it with. A child viewer uses a seat.
- If a plan ends, everyone on it loses access until it's renewed. We keep the archive, so the family can return or export it.
- Prices, trials, gifts and refunds will be set out here before paid plans begin.
AI suggestions
The service uses AI to write down recordings and suggest who, when and where. Suggestions can be wrong. Nothing is added until a person confirms it, so please check before you do.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why when we can.
The fine print
- The service is provided "as is", without warranties, to the extent the law allows.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you've paid nothing.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA.
- We'll post changes here and tell you in the app or by email if they matter.
